Aria Manderson's SMA Fund Raiser
We are Melanie Werdmuller and Michael Manderson.We have recently received the news our beautiful 9 month old baby girl, Aria, has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, a terminal genetic disease with no cure.Its affects all of her muscles. She cannot sit up, crawl, can barely move her legs and has difficulty holding objects and moving her head due to her weak neck.We searched online in hope of an answer, and there is a Stem Cell Treatment available in China, India, USA, Switzerland and Germany.We have a team of specialists that are helping keep her as strong as possible, however, she will continually degrade her muscles as she is missing 1 of 2 genes that help them function and provide them with nutrients.Eventually her muscles will be weak to function including her heart and lungs.

The funds will be to cover her treatment which is approx- $15500, plus airfares, accomodation, meals and medical equipment we will need when we go overseas Which will cost a large amount of additional funds. We will retain all receipts and records of where the money is spent, so people know where it is going.Her Specialist team from John Hunter Hospital are helping to gather all the information we need to access the treatment, which is the only hope Aria has.There are proven success stories that it works.The Local Lions Club here in Cessnock, have opened an account for Aria to gather donations.
